Susan Michelle Sweet Born 1/21/1968 Delivered by Dr. Roger Jernstrom, OB (now deceased) at Bishop Clarkson Memorial Hospital, Omaha, NE Adopted by Vicki Jo Sweet and Michael Lloyd Sweet via private adoption (a lawyer) Adoption was “closed” but facilitated by Dr. Jernstrom (OB for both my birth mother and my adoptive mother) and Dr. Gilbert C. Schreiner (pediatrician, where my adoptive mother was one of his RN’s on staff) Birth Mother details: My birth mother may have been named “Cathy Case” (unsure of spelling) and at the time of my birth she was either 18 or 19. What my parents recall about her details, as told to them: The birth mother was one of 5 girls in her family. She got pregnant while enrolled as a freshman in college, Dana College, in Nebraska. (The college is now defunct, records reside with the University of Nebraska but no access is given without SSN and matriculation year.) Mike Sweet saw paperwork on the day of the adoption in Douglas County Court (Omaha, NE), July 1968 that indicated the birth mother’s name, before it was blacked out. Vicki Sweet’s sister, Kristi, was in nursing school at Bishop Clarkson Hospital at the time of my birth, and when my parents presented me as a 5-day old infant, my aunt said, “That’s Baby Case. I’ve been taking care of her since she was born.” So that corroborates the “Case” surname. My birth mother was 5’5” and had blonde hair and blue eyes. Birth Father details: No idea on my birth father’s name, though my parents recall that his mother, my paternal grandmother, was the dean or some other high official post at Dana College (Dana, NE). They recalled that my paternal grandmother threatened to send my birth father away from college if he married my birth mother. (That would have meant likely enlistment in the armed forces, as it was during the Vietnam War draft period.) My birth father was 6’0” and had brown hair and green eyes, may have been 20 or 21 years old.
