I am searching for a connection to my maternal grandfather, with very little to go on. He was taken to what he referred to as a children’s home in St. Louis by his mother. She did visit a few time after taking him there, but after a while stopped coming (his words). The story was that there was a fire in 1902 / 1903 and my grandfather was adopted by the Ellis family from rural Benton County Missouri.
