My father was born September 13, 1920 in St. Louis, MO I believe. He was adopted some time between his birth and the 1930 Federal Census. His adopted parents were George Henry Oxnam and his wife Katherine Anne Elizabeth Gerlach Oxnam. My father’s name, given him by his adoptive parents, was Eugene John Oxnam. He did not find out that he was adopted until the mid to late 1950’s. At that time he searched for his adoption records and was told that the orphanage where he was placed had burned and all records of the orphanage had burned in the fire. There was a large Lutheran Children’s home in St. Louis, MO that burned in 1935 or 1936. I am interested in finding his adoption and birth records. Any assistance you can give would be greatly appreciated.
