My Aunt Irma was forced to give her baby up for adoption when my Mom was only 13 and Aunt Irma was 17 (summer of her junior year in high school). My Mom is now 91 and would very much like to know that her sisters baby survived and lived a happy life. Also we have discovered that my mother carries the gene which makes people prone to colon and breast cancer. The genetic doctor indicated we should contact all our first cousins to make them aware of this genetic deficiency. Although we have never known my Aunt’s son and he would be 79. Mom would really like to have met him at least once before she dies. She has always been afraid to search for him because she was not sure that he would know if he was adopted. Aunt Irma died in 1972 and she really never got over being forced to give up her baby. She also could never have any other children. My Mom always suspected that Grandma had Aunt Irma sterilized. Aunt Irma was treated very unfairly at Maplewood High School and expelled her senior year because someone had found out she gave birth over the summer. My Mom still feels Grandma and Grandpa didn’t fight for Aunt Irma and Mom was only in grade school at the time. I know it’s a long shot but I thought I would give it a try on this website. He was adopted from the Salvation Army home for unwed mothers that is where they sent my Aunt Irma to give birth. They wouldn’t even let her hold him after he was born.
