I am trying to find information about the birth parents of my mother, who was adopted by Dalmus Richard Nance and his wife Maggie Graves Nance in East St. Louis, IL. This may or may not have been a formal adoption. My mother was named Gladys and like born about 1920. DNA evidence has identified her father, Robert Lee Hawkins, of Panola Co. MS. DNA evidence strongly suggests her mother was one of two sisters, Edith Smith 1901 or Emma Smith 1905. Both at one time lived in Panola Co. Specifically. I am trying to determine which of these women is my biological grandmother.
