It was a Sunday and Mother’s Day an incredible gift to my adoptive mom. Thank you. I hold no hard feelings and believe in adoption whole-heartedly. In fact‚ I have an adopted daughter. I received a partial adoption record years ago when I made a request for medical reasons. Because it was a private adoption arranged before I was born‚ the information was scanty and "not verified." Here is what I know. My birth mother was 18 years old and the "alledged" father was 22‚ knew about the pregnancy‚ but had had no further contact with my birth mother. It was a private adoption handled by the law office that had previously represented my birth grandmother in her divorce. A religious waiver had to be signed because I was being adopted by a family of a different religion than the birth family. My birth grandfather was listed as a diabetic and hard-of-hearing. The record stated that I also had a half-aunt who was about 6 years old in 1958. My birth mother had not completed high school at the time‚ but had worked (or was working?) in a doctor’s office. Birth mother also had a police record - for violating curfew.
