I am helping a young woman look for her father’s birth parents. He was born at the Florence Crittenton Hospital (Detroit‚ MI) at 2:00 am on 22 Jan‚ 1962. Unfortunately‚ he passed a way in 2003‚ as he was looking for his birth parents. His daughter is continuing that search. His birth father (6’ 3” tall) and grandfather had moved from TN to Detroit. He and the birth mother dated for a year during his senior year and had talked of getting married. We believe the birth father left Detroit because the maternal grandfather was very angry at the situation. The maternal grandmother was born in KY to Irish parents. The maternal grandfather was born in GA‚ and his parents were English and one of 10 children. We know that the birth mother voluntarily terminated her parental right on 1/30/1961. The petition was heard by Judge McDonald in Midland County MI. The adoption was finalized in Midland County on March 2‚ 1962. The birth mother was 5’7” with blonde hair and brown eyes. She was interested in becoming a nurse and hoped to enroll in the Baptist Hospital for Nurses Training following graduation. She stated that she wished adoption for her child because she saw no way she could adequately provide for their child’s future. The granddaughter of these birth parents hopes to find her dear father’s birth family and hopefully connect with that part of her birth family. Thank you for any information.
