My mother, Betty Lou Lancaster Overholser, is searching for her sister, who was born Ruth Lancaster, on October 6, 1941, in either Berrien County, Michigan or Cass County, Michigan. Both Betty Lou and Ruth were born to parents, John Wesley Lancaster (birthdate May 28, 1871)and Viola Merrill Lancaster(birthdate June 18, 1909). The mother, Viola, died during childbirth of Ruth or shortly thereafter. As far as we know, Ruth was given to Cass or Berrien County Social Services to be adopted. Betty Lou was sent through the same service to adoptive parents, Rex and Florence McCraner of Elhart County, Indiana.
