I am the legal son (age 43) of adoptee Loretta Elaine Stein (maiden adoptive name). She was born February 15th 1954. To my knowledge she was born at Bixby Emma Hospital at 818 Riverside Ave Adrian Michigan 49221. Placed for adoption in April 1954. The adoption is said to have been completed in August 1954. Agency unknown. Its been said that she was left at either the old Adrian City Hall or the Old Court House in Lenawee County Michigan. Its also been said that my mother was in bad health and expected not to survive. That was the reason given for giving her up. The paperwork in regards to the adoption I found as a kid in my grandmothers dresser with a light pastel green dress and booties. I did not open the envelope. It was fairly yellowed which screamed "old" to me. However I did inquire about it to my grandmother. She told me about what was in it in relation to my mother but no details. My sister would find it again in the same place some years later. She would open it and ask about it. My grandmother came unglued over it and my sister had never seen her come unglued before ever. She does not remember what was in the paperwork. All the paperwork with dress and booties disappeared immediately after this situation. Prior to this and before my grandmother went into a nursing home I asked my grandmother about the adoption outright. We almost had a conversation about it but were interrupted by Meals on Wheels. The opportunity to ask again never came back up. I initially took a DNA test from Ancestry.com around January 2018. Results were in by March after which I uploaded to My Heritage.com and GEDmatch.com. Based on the current standings my overall #2 match connected to the Burton family is a 1st - 2nd cousin with 331-347 Cm’s depending which site you look at. Ive researched and continue to research the family. Made contact with 6 members of the family. Primarily continue to converse with 3 of 6 of those members of which one is a new match connection on My Heritage so just getting a feel on talking with him. It was thought that we knew who my mothers real parents were which were Harvey and Dorothy Burton. There are 20 confirmed DNA matches on Dorothys family line. Also Burton family is from Pulaski, Pulaski County, Virginia. Its also known that Dorothys 1st born from 1943 is a Burton but from a different Burton family line in the same county. Harvey and Dorothy moved to Adrian Michigan in 1943 after he was born. Other siblings of Harvey and Dorothy would later also migrate shortly after. It is said that neither Dorothy or any of her sisters would have never given any child up for adoption. So looking to further my research.
