Mother was 22 years of age, Catholic and Italian descent. Father was around 35 years of age, died of heart attack in April 1942. Mother had 2 brothers and one sister. Mother unable to care for baby because she was needed at home to care for her own ill mother. She originally requested temporary placement. Mother worked in a shoe factory. Baby was born at Allerton Hospital in Brookline. Mother’s sister contacted Catholic Charities on 6/9/42 regarding placement of the baby. Baby was transferred to St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Brighton on 6/14/42. Baptized in the hospital on 6/15/42 and named Francis. He was in foster care with Mr. & Mrs "N" until 2/17/44. He was placed in his adoptive home on 3/24/44.
