We are doing genealogy research and discovered my husband’s father, James Richard O’Brien, was born in Wisconsin in 1889 and adopted by William J O’Brien in Massachusetts. We believe the adoption took place around 1900, but are unsure if it took place in Wisconsin or Massachusetts.His birth date was September 19, 1889. We also believe his sister, Alice Elizabeth O’Brien, was born in Wisconsin as well a few years after he was. Unfortunately, we have no info as to his birth parents’ names or locations. My father-in-law passed away in 1968.
