I was adopted out of Skopje, Macedonia(Former Yugoslavia)in September 1979 (and took to the UK). I am now looking for my birth mother. I was around three years old when I was adopted. My name was originally Gordana Markovic (born in September 1976). I have been told that my mother didn’t know if she could keep me - and that she had taken me in and out of the orphanage before she had (reluctantly) given me up for adoption. I have been told that my birth father had ’vanished’ for over a year at the time of the adoption. My guardian at the time was called Radmile Nikolova. I also have a brother, who was adopted at the same time as me, also from Skopje. However I have been told that he was left at the hospital, and then took to a small foster home (a flat) which may have been in 1977 when he was born. I am not sure if my brother and I have the same mother, but I have been told that we have the same father.
