I am searching for a brother who was born in Bitola in the Former Yugoslav republic of Macedonia on the 1st of May 1971. Soon after the birth my parents were informed that their baby boy had died. When they asked to see their baby they were told there was no need and were advised to go home. My family originates from the village of Kukurecani in the Bitola area. Soon after the birth of their first born son they migrated to Melbourne, Australia. For most of my parents lives this situation has never felt right until 10 years ago they came across some information that he may be alive and living abroad either in America or Canada. In our research we have come across information that back when it was Yugoslavia there was an illegal selling of babies going on where childless families were paying thousands of dollars for a baby. The mothers of these babies were told the most unfortunate news that their babies had died. This is not the case!!! Our brother was kidnapped!!! The birth certificates of these children have been altered to show that their birth parents are the ones who bought them and their birth dates have been changed. We feel he is still alive as in researching have come across many others with similar stories. We have explored various avenues to find some information with no results. If you feel that for most of your life your parents are not really your biological parents then this could be a possibility if you are of Macedonian/Yugoslavian heritage. Enquiries welcome.
