My son, whose name at birth was Nathaniel Patrick Leavy was adopted by a podiatrist and his wife. They were Catholic. It was a privately arranged adoption set up by myself to protect my child. I had tried to keep in contact with Nelson Rivers who said he used to attend church with the adoptive couple and could tell me year to year if my son was well. The last time I called Nelson Rivers he told me they had moved out of the parish and were no longer attending church with him. It has always been my responsibility I feel to provide for my son medically should it be needed or to answer any questions he may have. Mr. Rivers indicated my son had shown no such desire thus far, however I only wish to remain open for him should he feel a desire to find answers. He is very much loved. He is prayed for every day though he is far from my heart in the material world. I did the best thing I felt I could do at the time for him as his father was very ill and I was unable to handle all of the bills. The reason was poverty pure and simple. There were none who would help us, or capable of helping us in a safe way that we knew. I am from Missouri and his father is also. We had gone to New Orleans because his father had friends there and we were looking for a better life than what we had in St. Louis. Unfortunately poverty found us there also. We were young and inexperienced. His father’s illness was profound. I have remarried and moved to Florida. I have also changed my name. My DNA is registered with Ancestry.com. I have never wanted to interfere in my sons life. I only want him to know that he is loved. He always was, and he always will be. I do not question what I did, I do not second guess it, but it was indeed the most difficult thing I have ever done. I hope you are well son. It was all I ever hoped for, for you. I wish for you peace and happiness all your days. I will only ever serve you if I may, in a capacity you set. I only wish for you the best. .
