Hi‚ My father was adopted from a Volunteers of America run agency in New Orleans‚ Louisiana in August of 1962. The only information provided by the adoption agency was non-identifying descriptions of birth parents in a letter when requested by my father’s adoptive mother when my father was a teenager. The letter said his birth mother came to the agency‚ already 6 months pregnant and told them the child’s father had passed in "an accident" and she could not care for the child. The mother was described at 5’5" with brown hair and hazel eyes and with some training as a secretary. She also was said to have an older sister. The father was described as taller‚ with black hair and brown eyes‚ and was a geologist. He was also listed as having an older sister. My father was listed as Baby Boy H or James on his initial birth paperwork. We do not know if the story about the birth father having passed in an accident has any truth to it‚ nor if family and description details were given with accuracy. We are hoping to find a connect to any living family members.
