From stories‚ my mother was born in the State Asylum in Winfield‚ KS. We believe her mother was Hispanic‚ possible last name of Gutierrez (?) and father Caucasian. Hospital records are hard to find‚ almost non-existent. I am going by stories she told me. Her birth mother was apparently sterilized after birth‚ so she may be the only child of the mother. State Asylum for the Idiotic and Embicilic was the name in year 1944‚ when child was born. Any help would be much appreciated,! :)
