I am searching for a paternal relative of my grandfather‚ with the hopes of discovering who his biological father was. My grandfather was born September 14th‚ 1946 in Hoisington‚ Kansas with the birth name if Ira Lee Thomason. His birth mother is Betty Lou Thomason my grandfather was given her maiden name. My grandpa was not given up for adoption by his mother‚ but rather‚ he has no clue who his biological father was. At a very young age (around 1-2 years old‚ I think) my grandfather was adopted by his mother’s husband (not sure if he was married to Betty at the time of my grandpa’s adoption)‚ Gordon Eugene Cape. After the adoption‚ my grandfather had a new birth certificate changing his name to Ira Lee Cape. I have searched for any papers of my grandpa’s adoption‚ but I have had no luck. My grandpa has an older sister‚ Sharon Kathleen Thomason‚ who also doesn’t know her biological father. My grandpa has no clue if he and Sharon share the same father‚ and they no longer speak. I believe Betty was 18 or 19 when she had Sharon in Great Bend‚ Kansas‚ and was either 19 or 20 when she had my grandfather. Betty and Gordon had two daughters together‚ Derbie and Debbie‚ however‚ Betty‚ Gordon and their two young daughters all perished in a car accident in Colorado in 1972. Betty was born in Great Bend‚ Kansas and lived there all her life from what I can gather. My grandpa has no clue if his biological father even knew Betty was pregnant.
