My mother (Evelyn Fugate) said she was taken from her home in southern Arkansas to Wichita‚ Ks as an unwed mother. She had a boy (not 100% sure) in February (we think‚ she wasn’t very forthcoming) and wouldn’t give the year‚ but could be between 1948-1956. She had the baby at a home for unwed mothers which was later called Booth Memorial Girls Home. The adoption was done through Catholic Social Services. Possible last names given were Bitely or Fugate.
