Searching for birth family of Martha Jean (Sheets) Moore. DOB 04/16/1928 in Auburn, Shawnee County, Kansas. She was adopted by Clarence Roy and Ethel (Howe) Sheets of Mission (now Topeka), KS. I was always told her mother died during childbirth, and her father put her up for adoption. He was a farmer who already had 2 daughters and a son, and was unable to care for a preemie newborn. My grandmother knew her birth name and her siblings, but my dad doesn’t remember the name. I met one of her birth sisters, Marie. I was young, and all I remember about her was her miniature Schnauzer dog, Boots. My grandmother died in 2008, and her obituary stated that she was preceded in death by 2 half sisters and a half brother.
