I remember going to the county seat to finalize the adoption in Troy, KS with the father Tim King. Tim King was born September 6, 1957 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in St. Joseph, MO. I believe that hospital is no longer in operation. He spent his entire life in Elwood and died on June 12, 2019. We were classmates in school. I tried to find Elton long before internet access was available and signed a form that I would be willing to meet after he became 18 if he chose to. I do not have a copy of that. I remember calling the county seat or the SRS and a sympathetic woman hinted that his last name now was a common last name for black people.
