(paternal grandfather) 1924–1990 Birth 18 SEP 1924 • Topeka‚ Shawnee County‚ Kansas Death 19 FEB 1990 • Upland‚ San Bernardino County‚ California Adopted within first year of birth (believe within first 6 months of life) by Shirley Hannah Jones Lewis and Robert Riley Lewis. Robert Riley and Shirley Hannah lived in Kansas until 1950 when they moved to Oregon‚ with my Grandpa Russ and their 4 biologic children. My grandfather learned of his adoption when he decided to enter the military for World War II at the age of 18. He told me he traveled to Kansas to try to locate his birth parents after learning of his adoption‚ but said he was unsuccessful in finding his birth family.
