My new birth certificate listed me as being born in Lyons Hospital in Atlantic Township in Rice County Kansas. I don’t remember anything before driving up to the orphanage except that I was 4 or 5 and had twin baby brothers who were separated from me upon reaching the orphanage. My adoptive mother tried to tell me that I was born from her, but she was 44 when they adopted me, and had been married for 19 years before they came and adopted me. I remember they came to the long two-story brick building that was the orphanage and asked me if I wanted to come home and live with them. The doctor’s signature on the adoption record was E.P. Hill and the Registrar’s name was Fred Jamsen.
