I am a birth sibling looking for my brother who was given up for adoption in 1964. He was born in Ottawa‚ Kansas on 3/7/1964‚ in the very early morning hours at Ransom Memorial Hospital in Ottawa‚ KS. Dr. David Laury attended the birth. The baby was relinquished within 1-5 days after birth and mom never saw him even once. The baby’s birth weight was just over 8 pounds‚ and I have no further identifying characteristics of the baby boy otherwise. Other facts that I know: Birth mother’s name is Cecilia Annabelle Graves‚ though she goes by name of Ann. The birth father’s name is Leonard Cheasbro. They were both 22 years old at the time. The attorney was John (?) Oliver from Overland Park‚ KS and the adoption was processed through his office in Johnson County‚ KS. My mom believes that the adoptive parents may have been from around Independence‚ MO‚ she recalls the name "Ross" (or some derivative of it‚ perhaps like Cross?)‚ but not sure if it was a first name or last name. So far‚ I have not been successful in confirming a birth of a baby boy on that day in this hospital. Kansas Adoption records are sealed by law‚ so I’ve ran into many dead ends and very few leads to check on. DNA tests through ancestry.com have been done for my mom‚ dad and me...and uploaded to various sites for potential matching. Any help would be most appreciated!
