My name is Kim Berkeley Karstens. My birth name was Kim Denise Yarabe. I was born in Koza City (now Okinawa City), Okinawa. My birth date is April 16, 1962 and I was adopted 3 days later by Charles and Loretta Berkeley. My birth mother’s name was Mitsu Yarabe. She was born on February 2, 1944 and she died July 2, 1963. My father is unknown but thought to be a sailor stationed on a ship there. My birth family is from Ishigaki, Yaeyama Islands, Okinawa. My mother had three sisters so I am sure I have other relatives there. One known relative is Tadashi Shimanaka who lived with my mother and reported her death which took place at 938 Yogi, Misato Village. I am looking for any and all of my birth family relatives.
