My father ( deceased in 2008 at age 59) was born 14 Nov 1947 in Cedar Rapids Iowa. I understand that he was then sent to the Iowa Soldiers’ Orphans’ Home, also known at the Annie Wittenmyer Home or the Annie Wittenmyer Center, located in Davenport, Iowa before he was adopted by my grandparents ( also both deceased) somewhere around the age of 1. I’m told his birthday name was Roy Rogers Myers or Meyers ( not sure on spelling of last name). I have ancestry dna that connects me to several people in that area of Iowa but other than dna I don’t have connections.
