My mother was born June 29, 1947 at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa. Dr. Hess handled the birth and adoption (within a few days of birth) and she was given the name of Joan Loy Nagel. Mom was raised in Des Moines by very loving parents (Stella Mozelle and Loyal Otis Nagel) on 34th Street across from Witmer Park. After graduation from Roosevelt high school in 1965, she went to one semester of college in Missouri, but then decided she would rather be a Mom and raise a family. She married her only husband, Larry Butler, on Nov 5, 1966 and had 2 children - Laurie and Todd. Somewhere Mom remembers it stating "baby girl Weiss/Weise..." on the adoption papers however we cannot locate the papers now to confirm this. Mom is 72 with numerous life altering health issues and I am searching for any family members that may have information or insight to her medical history. Mom is not angry or bitter, but she is also not looking to reconnect with her biological family at all so this search is solely for my personal medical informational purposes. A possible connection to unknown relatives would be an added bonus.
