My name is Angel Marie Cottrell Key. I am a 43 year old female looking for my brother. My birthday is August 14, 1973. I grew up believing I was the only child my mother had. But as of July 3, 2016, I found out that I have a younger brother! I do have a (half) sister (we share the same father) who is 6 years younger than me. My brother was born in 1976 to my mother, Bonnie Lou Horsley Cottrell. However, I’m not sure if we share the same father. But if so, then that means my little sister also has a brother. My father’s name is William Phillip Cottrell. I was born in Vigo County, Terre Haute, Indiana and so were my parents and sister. I was born at St. Anthony’s hospital but believe my brother was born at Union Hospital in 1976. I have heard so many conflicting stories, I don’t know what is true. When my mother found out I had learned about my brother, she was very upset and refuses to give me any information about him...not even his exact birthdate or his name she gave him. I’m so new to this whole adoption search that I have spent many sleepless nights on the internet searching and searching, looking for the tiniest thing that could lead me right into my brothers arms. I have prepared myself for any outcome this search results in. I don’t even know if he knows he’s adopted, is he alive?, Is he married? have kids? other siblings? The questions are endless. I’m trying to get ahold of my bio dad to see if he can answer any questions but having no luck reaching him so far. I have been told that my father enlisted in the Navy, without telling my mom. When he left, that is when she found out she was pregnant. Since he was gonna be gone for who knows how long, there was no way she could financially take care of us both. He was born in the summer (July or August) of 1976. My parents were still technically married when he was born. Their divorce was final on July 27, 1977. I have been told he was adopted the day after his birth, possibly by a Dr. and his wife. But again, I do not know how true this is. I do know that placing him for adoption was the hardest thing she has ever had to do in her life! 40 years have passed and I have missed out on 40 years way too much. I need to find my brother. Please help.
