The only things that my adoptive parents knew was that both of my birth parents were college educated. I was adopted from Catholic Social Services in South Bend, Indiana. Hence, I presume that both of my birth parents went to Notre Dame University (then an all male college) and St. Mary’s College (then and all female college) which were across the street from each other. Since I apparently came down with the chicken pox shortly after being born, I am told I was sent to a foster home in/near Plymouth, Indiana and given to my adoptive parents in May 1955. My birth certificate is dated May __, 1955 with my present name though it states that I was born July 7, 1954. I did return to Catholic Social Services in South Bend, Indiana the winter of 1977-78 in order to learn my exact time of birth (for astrological rising sign information) and after permission from the director, my file was opened and I learned it was at 6:28pm. Many years later I attempted to find my birth mother and called Catholic Social Services who had moved from South Bend to Indianapolis, Indiana. All I learned from this phone call was that my birth mother was from South Dakota. That is the extent of my knowledge.
