Identical twin girls born in Wabash, Indiana, probably by cesarean. Birth mother was 26 yo and was born in Illinois. We spent some time in foster care but were in the adoptive home about 6 weeks of age. We were sent to a married couple, Etta (Lorraine, Lorene) and Elmer (Rudolph, Rudy) Hickman in their mid to late 30s who lived in Marion, Indiana and worked in local factories. Our adoptive mother said she didn’t know they were getting twins until after we were born. We were probably adopted through the county welfare agency, not a private company. We were given the names Janet and Janis by our adoptive parents.
