Born at Eastern Social Welfare’s maternity hospital in South Korea on July 4, 2002. I was “given” the name Jang, Jae Hoon by the staff. My unmarried mother placed me for adoption after she met father while on holiday. My adoption papers state that my father worked in Cheju (at a resort) as a golfer, had glasses, liked to read and was never told that I was born. The paperwork states that my mother worked in her family’s restaurant and that someone on the maternal side had diabetes. The only other information stated is that when birth mother did try to contact father later to discuss me, the father had left to do military service and could not be located. I flew to the US at almost four months of age and was adopted in the state of Illinois. My legal name was changed to Eli At the time of my adoption. I now live in St. Louis, MO and attend university.
