OK. Here’s what I know I know: I was born in Aurora, IL on November 3, 1972. My adoption became official in May 1973, and I spent the intervening six months in foster care. Now what I *think* I know: according to the bits that my mom and dad were able to tell me, my birth parents were married but divorcing, and had one son already. There was something that delayed my adoption maybe a disagreement between my biological mom and dad. But this is all apocryphal while my mom thinks it’s so, we wouldn’t take it to the bank. It was almost fifty years ago, after all!
