I am looking to find my nephew. During World War II, my sister’s husband was called away to serve our country in the ARMY. My sister was left to raise the four children on her own. She was unable to do this and ultimately filed for divorce from her husband. All four children to then taken by Winnebago County, Illinois and adoption proceedings began taking place almost immediately. All four had been adopted prior to March 23, 1940. Today, I am 96 years old. I have already found two of my nieces and one of my nephews. The oldest girl and youngest boy have found each other and we are all looking to find the oldest of the two boys. He was born on January 17, 1938 in Pittsburgh, Allegheny, Pennsylvania and almost immediately they moved to Rockford, Winnebago, Illinois which is where their Mom had been born. As shown in the 1940 U.S. Census, my sister (their birth Mother) was living with her two young male children in 1940. The two girls had already been adopted and the boys would be next. They were all adopted out of Rockford, Winnebago, Illinois. We have found the youngest boy and we want to find his older brother! None of the children remember having siblings because they were too young at the time Mom gave them up. We are looking forward to making this family complete. My nephew would be 82 years old today!
