I was adopted in 1961. I am searching for my birth mother and/or my birth brother. I have no names of these people. I was adopted as an infant after my mother was a resident at St Monica’s unwed mother’s home in Springfield IL. My adoptive parents were Eugene Swingler and Eileen (Kemme) Swingler and was named Brenda Elaine Swingler. I first lived in Effingham IL and then the family moved to Urbana/Champaigne area only to return to Effingham in 1975. My birth mother attempted contact with me in 1997 and at that time I turned down the request. I did receive a letter through Catholic Charities regarding some of my medical history and facts about my history. I know my mother was 21 years old when I was born and that she never told my father about me as they broke up. I married and my name changed to Johnson which I have kept following my divorce. I was born with red curly hair and have passed this trait onto my children. I also know my mother was allergic to the cold and probably lives in a warmer climate.
