The daughter of the adoptee is looking for her deceased mother’s family and began calling Hazen’s older than her mother via white pages. I agreed to help even though I am a Hazen by marriage. Her mother’s birth name was Delleana Star Hazen, born Oct 24, 1962. Her adoption birth certificate of Nov 7, 1962 indicates adoptive parents as Wm. K. Freeman (48 yrs) born in Belleville, IL and Ruby Brown Freeman (42) born in Carnyth, MS, both African Americans. They changed her birth name to Delisa Star Freeman. The law firm Turner, Holder and Auckermann handled the adoption and is no longer in business. The adoptee died in June 2018 and her daughter found a letter from the atty that had the birth name and the new birth certificate with the Freemans as parents. She thinks the birth mother was Helena or Helen A. Hazen. A photo of the adoptee appears to African American or bi-racial. There is a note from the adoptee hand written on the letter with her birth name. She speaks of always wanting to meet her birth parents - prayed daily to meet before they or she left this world. She signed it -“God Bless You” Delleana Star Hazen-Delisa Star Freeman.
