My child was born November‚ 1986 at Rockford Memorial Hospital‚ Rockford‚ IL. At the time of your birth I was a 16 year old and the youngest of 5 kids. My dad had died when I was 9. At the time‚ I was living with my mom who had many challenges of her own...including the burden of me. I was unable to take care of you how you deserved. I felt the best thing for you would be to search for a family to adopt you. I wanted you to have everything in life I did not...including a dad in your life. Your birth father chose to not be involved in any aspect of my pregnancy‚ your birth or how to handle making the hardest decision of my life-handing you to someone else that could care for you. I love you with all my heart and have missed being the one to raise you‚ but‚ am confident the people I chose for you gave you everything I wished they would. I know you were one of the first "open adoptions" in the state of IL and this allowed me to review family biographies and actually choose the family that adopted you. For a few years‚ they agreed and sent me updates and photos‚ but‚ eventually stopped. Out of fear of disturbing your life...or making your parents uncomfortable...I didn’t pursue them continuing the updates. However‚ I would have loved to continue seeing them‚ but‚ felt respect for your parents was the priority. If you are open to meeting....I am also. I now have 4 wonderful children with my husband...have been married for 26 years and with him for 32 years. I would love to have the opportunity to tell you anything you want to know. My heart is open....has always been...and I have missed you terribly.
