This adopted person would be my niece (I was only 8 when she was adopted out) Her bio-parents were both under 18 at the time of birth. Bio-dad (my brother) told me that it was a closed adoption and he (and bio-mom) had to sign papers (?) stating he/they would not search for child or contact child. He said this was handled thru a lawyer’s office, I think out of Charleston ILL. They were told she was adopted by a "farmer" family near Pana ILL. by the last name of Abell. (?) Majority of the people involved are now deceased. Why they were told the latter information, is beyond me, considering it was to be "hush-hush" This child, if still living, would be in upper 40’s and I believe she has every right to know family medical history. Thank you.
