To whom it may concern. I am writing you this letter today to try to get assistance in trying to locate 2 siblings. My Mother is now 88 years old‚ and she had these two children with her ex-husband‚ 1 was given up for adoption before they married‚ and the 2nd child was unknowningly given to her ex husbands mother to care for until such a time that she could support and care for him (that I have a copy of the court decree. My mother changed her name after the Divorce legally from (Goldie Heistand Whiteaker) to Kitty Whiteaker. My mother is not well educated‚ she only attended school until age 13 at which point she had to stay home to attend to her own Mother’s children. she only has an 8th grade level education. She asked me to write this letter on her behalf to see if she could find them (if they 1 are alive and 2 would like answers to why she didn’t raise them. She lives with the regret of not knowing what ever happened to either of them. Child #1 = baby girl named at birth " Donna Raye Heistand" - she was delivered in Chicago‚ IL in 1946 at the homeless shelter for unwed mothers. This baby girl was taken by my Mother’s mother and handed over to the people at the adoption office at the homeless shelter- possibly run by the Salvation Army? I DO NOT KNOW THE DOB UNFORTUNATELY. BUT POSSIBLY BORN AT ST. VINCENTS FOR UNWED MOTHERS IN CHICAGO. Other possible birth location would be Booth House also in Chicago. *Calumet City is a suburb of Chicago. although Mom thinks the baby girl was born thete‚ it could actually be Chicago. Child #2= baby boy named Douglas Clay Whiteaker [approx age 7 in 1955. ] (I have a copy of the divorce decree if you need to see it. ) Per the divorce decree City of Calumet City‚ Cook County‚ IL Bill # 10592‚ dated 12/17/1955. Per the Court Order‚ that the sole custody ‚ care‚ control and education of the minor child was given to my Mother Goldie Hiestand Whiteaker. with the further provision to allow the said minor child to remain in the care of the paternal grandmother Mae Townsley‚ Rurral Route#1 Tazeville. Tennessee [*note‚ the correct town name should have been Tazewell‚ TN]‚ subject to reasonable rights of visitation in the defendant‚ (Goldie Heistand Whiteaker)‚ court reserving jurisdiction be‚ and she is hereby‚ forerver barred from making any claims against the Defendant (Goldie Heistand Whiteaker) for alimony‚ the same having been expressly waived in open court". I have attempted several times over the past 10 years to try to locate either of them‚ and could not find any information on either. However ‚ I think that the paternal grandmother Mae Townsley from Tenneessee moved to ILLINOIS‚ near Peoria. but got no farther. ANY ASSISTANCE IN HELPING US LOCATE THEM WOULD BE GRACIOUSLY APPRECIATED. YOU CAN CONTACT ME. Regards‚ Mary Fitzpatrick Serlick I am 58 years old‚ and I am her oldest daughter from her last marriage to my Father‚ Thomas J. Fitzpatrick. My name is Mary Fitzpatrick Serlick. **3/12/2024 update.. sadly Mom passed away 1/2023 in Florida. I am now 64 and my adopted sister still has not been located‚ nor my 1/2 brother who was raised by his Grandmother. I am thinking that at this point I may end up doing a 23&me DNA to search. I was hoping to find them both before Mom died‚ but it was not in our cards. I hope someone out there recognizes the names and reaches out. The profile photo is if Mom & me .
