I was born September 12, 1963 in St. Mary’s hospital in St. Louis, Missouri and was in temporary custody for 12 days before I was placed with Mary Louise and Everett Dean Speaks in Springfield Illinois. I was told they went through a Catholic charity for the adoption. My birth mother was supposed to be approximately 16 years old. My adopted name was Karen Lynn Speaks.
