Hello‚ My name is Simone. I only recently came to know that my mother had a baby boy in 1951 in Illinois. She was from Prince Edward Island in Canada but went to have the baby where her sister lived. My mother's name was Thelma Mary (or Marie) Veronica Arsenault. Her sister lived in Illinois as she was married a US serviceman. I don't know why my mother chose to put the baby up for adoption other than the fact that she was very young and had limited resources. She never forgot her son. The baby was born at what used to be Burnham City Hospital in Campaign Urbana. My mother does not know the exact day but believes it was June of 1951. The doctors involved were Dr. Rickett and possibly Dr Walter B. Grenell. The nurse who helped my mother was Lorraine Reed. My mother seems to recall that the doctor may have had a couple in mind for the adoption. She does not know if they lived out of state. She believes she signed off on the adoption using her full name. I have already tried to find details via the Midwest Adoption Center process. Nothing was found which my intermediary thought was odd. She suggested that maybe the baby was taken out of state. My mother never saw him. He was adopted. My half brother would be 75 now. My mother did Ancestry.com and no matches were found. I helped her cross reference with GEDmatch but also no child or close relatives found. thank you.
