I would like to make my information available for my son that I placed for adoption when I was 16. He was born December 27, 1984 at about noon. He was born at AmbuCare Birthing Center, which was affiliated with Mercy Hospital, in Nampa, Idaho. He weighed 8 pounds, 9 ounces. He was delivered by Dr. Birkland, with my Mom as my coach. I surrendered him at birth. I never even saw him. I delivered on my side with my back to the door. They placed him on the table to clean him and wrap him. He started to cry, and my heart shattered. I told my Mom they needed to get him out of the room, or I was going to roll over and call the adoption off. I knew if I saw him, I’d never let him go. My Mom picked him up and carried him out. She checked his little fingers and toes, kissed his little cheeks, and let her first grandchild go. I’ve never felt it was my place to intrude in his life.
