I was born on 3 February 1961 at Whittington hospital, Highgate, London in Saint Mary’s wing. My mother was sent to a mother and baby home in Highgate London and was certainly living there by 24 December 1960. The name of the home was Saint Pelagias, and I was named Celeste Christine Grendon, my mothers name was Mary Ellen Annette Grendon and she was known as Annette. She was born on 28 February 1940 and was a student nurse At Kettering General Hospital. She lived at 71 High Street Higham Ferrers, Rushden, Northants. She was educated at Notre Dame convent Northampton. My adopted surname is Fennelly and my adopted parents were Winifred and John Fennelly. My birth father’s name was Alistair Armstrong and he was an engineering officer in the Navy. The adoption was finalised in Uxbridge Court and I know that Hammersmith social services were involved in the adoption process at some point.
