I, Elizabeth (Betty) Jane Mains O’Steen, gave birth to a son on Oct. 5, 1966 at Crawford Long Hospital in Atlanta, GA. The name on his birth certificate was Allen Lee Mains. I was at the Florence Crittenton Home in Chamblee, GA at the time of his birth and was 16. I turned 17 one week later. About 6 weeks later, I was taken by my parents to an Adoption Agency on 10th Street in Atlanta to sign adoption papers. The only thing I remember about that is that my caseworker’s name was Louise Bridges. I was notified a couple of months later that Allen had been adopted, but that was all the information I was given. My hometown was Eatonton, Georgia.
