As far as I know‚ my husband was born Petrus Johannes Kraak in Pretoria. His biological mother was only 14 years old when she fell pregnant and was also in the welfare system. After his birth‚ she tried to raise him herself‚ but having come from a broken home herself and being so young‚ she struggled to take care of him on her own‚ and decided that the best thing for her child was for him to be in a family who would properly provide and take care of him. This decision was apparently incredibly difficult for her. I unfortunately do not have any more information than that.
