I have since found some further information regarding the adoption of my father. He was born SYDNEY NIEMAN on 5 April 1936. His birth mother’s name was KATHERINE HELEN NIEMAN. He was born in JOHANNESBURG, TRANSVAAL. The address is listed as 22 Sharp Street, Bellevue, Johannesburg, Transvaal. Usual residence is 4 Louis Botha Avenue, Hillbrow, Johannesburg. The informant is M. Hallow. Number of entry 2246/36. He was later adopted by WAR MEARS and MARJORIE ALEXANDRA MEARS (born PROSSER). The adoption took place on 11 September 1939 by the Johannesburg Child Welfare in Boksburg. His name was only changed on 2 June 1955
