My daughter’s birth name was Lee-Anne McEvoy. She was born at the Park Lane Clinic in Johannesburg and given up for adoption at birth. I was only 16 years old at the time‚ I did not receive any type of counselling and have struggled to accept my decision for many years‚ which meant that I was scared to reach out to find her as I felt that I had given up that right so long ago. I just hope that her life has been happy and fulfilled with a loving family. I don’t feel that I have any right to impose on my daughter’s life but any contact would be a bonus‚ a wonderful opportunity and perhaps both of us can learn to accept and understand why the adoption took place‚ and who knows what that might lead to.
