On October 6, 1986 (exactly one day after my own birth date!) I gave birth to a healthy baby boy at Palm Beach Gardens Medical Center in Palm Beach Gardens, FL. I asked permission to give my son, whom I’d named Bradley Martin Ladasic, a bottle of formula and hold him just once. Turns out I’d never be allowed to hold him again, as he was placed for a closed adoption soon afterward by the late Jan Cohn of the erstwhile Chosen Children Adoption Services of Lake Worth. I never met the adoptive family, but I was told they had been Roman Catholic and in the process of trying to also adopt a baby girl. They lived "South of [me]," Mrs. Cohn had said. I lived in North Palm Beach, FL, so "South" could have meant Fort Lauderdale? Miami? Florida Keys? Bahamas?The adoptive family also might have changed my boy’s first name to Michael. Son, I pray that I find you, and Happy Birthday, Wednesday, October 6th!!!
