I was born on April 4, 1952 in Live Oak, Florida. My teenage biological mother lived with my adoptive parents, Arlis and Murrell Palmer until my birth. When I was in my 30’s, someone called me to say they were my biological mother’s family and wanted to meet me, but I declined for fear of hurting my family’s feelings and confusing my children. I spoke with them long enough for them to tell me that I had some younger brothers, and someone in the family worked at the Riverview, Florida post office. I have only chosen to search for my biological heritage because of the curiosity of my adult children and grandchildren, and since the entire generation above me, my sweet Mama and Daddy and all the aunts and uncles have already died, there are no people left to get upset with me for this search. All my cousins who are still living don’t care if I search, because I’ve already asked all of them! And they are as clueless as I am about who the young girl was who lived with Mama and Daddy and gave birth to me. We have created a family tree on ancestry.com of my adoptive family. I did a DNA match and have contacted one of the closest relatives who appears to be a second cousin, but researching from that one match is quite confusing, although interesting. And she is a very nice, intelligent, educated lady who is just a little older than me. But while she is happy to share her DNA tree with me, I can’t get the connection.
