I am the Grandmother of the adopted person. She was adopted at birth. I will never forget the last time I held her in my arms at the hospital. There were pictures for almost a year through the adoption agency. I felt that there was something not quite right with this adoption. My daughter the birth mother was deceived into believing that there would be a chance to build a relationship with the adoptive parents throughout the years. The agency’s executive director was convicted of thief over 200,000 dollars by telling adoptive parents there was living expenses and medical bills. They claim 17,000 dollars living expenses which was untrue and medicaid paid her medical care. The agency ask for the Medicaid card for the baby. They didn’t get it. It took me 8 months but I found them. I wrote them a letter. They responded by a letter through a adoption lawyer which I contacted. The lawyer is the one who told us about the claim of living expenses and medical bills. There was about 30 other similar cases. I believe that the adopted child may be intellectually deficient. That is due to a picture in a local papers where she lives. She is in that picture of a special needs class. My question is when she is 18 years old can I still contact her. I would also like to write a letter to the adoptive parents and have a third party to mail it to the address I want it mailed too. Would appreciate any suggestions. My heart has been broken for 16 years. There is lot more I could say but won’t at this time.
