I am looking for my fathers family. He was adopted and doesn’t have any information on who his biological parents were. Born on February 17‚ 1943 he is African American. Possible states where he would have been born would be Georgia or Florida. 90% of my ancestry matches on his side come from Georgia. He had the surname of my 2nd great grandmother which was Gillis but she married a Ricks and the Gillis name faded out with her until he was born. Through my ancestry dna results I show a first cousin or possibly a half aunt with 717 cM shared with the surname of Brownlee on my Paternal side. The surname of Ricks is also on my Paternal side. We share a 2nd great grandmother with the surname of Gillis.
