My friend was born in Naples, Florida and adopted through Catholic Charities - most likely adopted within his first year, though he’s not sure. In pictures I’ve seen of him, post-adoption, he appears to be less than a year old. He was told his parents were very young - his mother maybe 15 or 16 at the time. By all accounts, it sounds like she was a young, unwed mother having to relinquish her baby. He was also told his father may have died in a motorcycle or car accident - and perhaps not long after the adoption in or around 1958. The birth mother’s father was present for his daughter during the delivery (according to a nurse that described him to his adoptive mother). The nurse had some contact with the adoptive mother for a while (via writing) but the adoptive mother stopped contact - perhaps out of fear that the biological mother would want her child back? No one knows for sure since his adoptive parents are both deceased.
